This first chapter had some interesting facts, seems to be an explaination of Neils travels and him getting started at first, but give some interesting info I thought as to where fossils are more likely to be found. -Jacob DiPietro
The first chapter i read was very interesting. I had no idea fish and humans were so connected in any way. My brain was open to a hole new world once i read the first chapter. I just got a freakin knowlegde bomb dropped on my brain. I suddenly found this book very important. -Emmanuel Morales
I found that this chapter is very interesting. I didn't know that u can only find fossials in certain types of rocks. When i read that,I thought that was something to allways remember.
Chapter 1 helped me understand why Shubin titled the book "Your Inner Fish." I did not realize that humans and fish could be that closely linked. I like how he uses his discoveries and experiences to make you easily grasp the concept of what he is saying. The chart on page 9 was especially useful on how species might be classified. It also gives even more information on how not only fidh and humans are related, but how all species could be connected. Chapter 1 gave a lot of insight as to how the rest of the book is going to be. -Morgan Wininger
This book was more interesting than I had originally thought it would have been. Shubin gives you an insight to so much information you would not have really thought of on a daily basis. He shows you the importance of fossils in scientific discovery. Just like how the discovery of a fish with a flat head would give us the history of our skull, neck, and limbs. From reading this first chapter, you are already seeing how the world's past can answer so many questions about 'Your Inner Fish' or how we came to be what we are. -Loremae Mopera
